Bhiwandi building collapse: Man who initiated repairs arrested

Amritlal Mithailal Nishad, 49, caretaker of the B-wing of Kohinoor Apartment in Bhiwandi, was arrested on Sunday for initiating repairs without municipal permission, leading to the collapse that killed 10.
Nishad worked for contractor Ashok, who is suspected to be Ashok Paswan, killed in the collapse.
Property owner Bilal Ahmed Abubkar Khan, business partner Danish, and contractor Ashok were also booked under sections including 105, 125(a), 125(b) of the IPC and sections 52, 53 of the MRTP Act.
The complaint was filed by Faisal Kayyum Tatli, Additional Commissioner of Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation.
Residents protested demolition of the collapsed wing and two adjacent buildings, demanding a panchnama of their flats.
