Building Had Been Declared Dilapidated: CM Devendra Fadnavis Reacts To Bhiwandi Tragedy That Claimed 9 Lives

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the Bhiwandi building had been declared dilapidated and 25 people were evacuated before the collapse, but some residents stayed.
The building collapse in Bhiwandi occurred late Thursday night around 11.30 pm, killing 9 people and injuring several others.
Rescue teams including NDRF, TDRF, Fire Brigade, and BNCMC responded to the incident and ongoing rescue operations are underway.
Thane Collector Shrikrishna Panchal said the building was C1-category in Kohinoor compound and was under repair without Municipal Corporation permission.
Authorities are investigating the identity of the owner and contractor who allegedly carried out unauthorised renovation work and will take legal action.
