Bhiwandi Building Collapse Tragedy: Death Toll Rises To 6 As NDRF Races Against Time To Rescue Survivors

The death toll in the Bhiwandi building collapse in Maharashtra's Thane district rose to six, with NDRF teams continuing rescue operations.

The four-storey Kohinoor Building in Bhiwandi was declared dangerous by the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation, but repair work was underway at the time of the incident.

The collapse occurred between 11 pm and 11:30 pm on Thursday, affecting the 'B Wing' of the building, which had 48 rooms with 12 per floor.

Residents heard cracking sounds between 8 pm and 9 pm, allowing several families to evacuate, but some occupants were trapped when the wing gave way.

Rescue efforts involve NDRF, Bhiwandi Fire Brigade, Bhoiwada Police Station, a dog squad, two ambulances, and a JCB machine.
