Bhiwandi Building Collapse Survivors Allege Simultaneous Column Repairs Weakened Structure Before Tragedy

Survivors of the Kohinoor Apartment collapse in Bhiwandi's Gangaramwadi allege simultaneous repair of three structural columns weakened the building.

Komal Arvind Gupta, a ground-floor resident, said labourers chipped away at all three columns at once and that phased repairs might have prevented the collapse.

Krishna Nishad, a fourth-floor resident, escaped by lowering himself with a water pipe after the staircase became unusable.

Mehtab, a third-floor resident, and his wife escaped through a flooded passage filled with drain water.

Authorities are investigating whether the repair work complied with structural safety norms and if negligence contributed to the collapse.
