PCMC suspended chief engineer Sanjay Kulkarni and executive engineer Yogesh Alhat over the Moshi landfill collapse that killed nine workers.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi ordered a departmental inquiry against both officials for negligence and dereliction of duty.
The officials were found to have submitted unsatisfactory explanations after show-cause notices.
A show-cause notice was also issued to private operator Antony Lara Renewable Energy Company for safety lapses.
Maharashtra government formed a high-level inquiry committee led by Pune Divisional Commissioner to investigate the disaster.
