Pune: After 9 Deaths In Moshi Tragedy, PCMC Commissioner Orders Preliminary Inquiry, Case Against Contractor

PCMC Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi ordered a preliminary inquiry into the Moshi garbage depot tragedy and a case against contractor Antony Lara Renewable.
The accident occurred on July 8 when a garbage heap collapsed onto the administrative building, trapping workers.
Nine workers died, including Bhavesh Vani, Akshay Sawant, Sunil Korke, Sunny Mane, Mahesh Kumbhar, Nagesh Gaikwad, Ranjit Patil, Rahul Gaikwad, and Waman Kasbe.
Rescue operations by NDRF, Indian Army, PCMC Fire Brigade, and others lasted 84 hours; all bodies were recovered by July 12.
Commissioner also ordered notices to PCMC Environment Department and contractor for detailed investigation into the collapse cause.
