Pune’s Moshi Tragedy: Project Head & Safety Officer Booked For Culpable Homicide After 9 Killed In Garbage

Police booked project head Ashok Kumar Siyaram Sharan Gupta and safety officer Vijay Ramrao Sapkal of Antony Lara Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd (ALR) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and negligence.
The FIR was registered on July 13 at Bhosari MIDC Police Station under Sections 105, 125(a), 125(b) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Nine workers died and 12 were injured on July 8 when a sanitary landfill collapsed into the company’s administrative building in Moshi.
The complaint alleges ALR knew monsoon rain could weaken the landfill but failed to take required safety measures or conduct proper inspections.
A high-level technical inquiry committee led by Divisional Commissioner Sheetal Teli-Ugale has been formed by the Maharashtra government.
