Cauvery water dispute: Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra detained during protest near KRS dam
Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra and party workers were detained during a protest near the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam against the Congress government's handling of the Cauvery water dispute.
The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) directed Karnataka to release 3,500 cusecs of water daily to Tamil Nadu, which the BJP alleges ignores farmers' interests amid drought warnings.
Vijayendra criticized Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, accusing him of failing to consult legal experts and making an unfair decision to release water to Tamil Nadu.
