Background
The 8th Pay Commission was constituted to recommend revisions to the pay structure for central government employees and pensioners. It is typically set up every 10 years. The current commission is chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and is expected to announce its final recommendations by mid-2027.

The 8th Pay Commission panel will hold meetings in Delhi on 7 and 10 August 2026 for associations, federations, and unions of central government and UT employees located/registered in Delhi.

The commission is expected to announce its final recommendations by mid-2027.
