8th pay commission: Rent increase, no hike since 2017 — Here's why the NC-JCM is demanding HRA revision
The 8th Pay Commission is in discussion phase before releasing official recommendations on pay hikes, allowances, and salary structure for central government employees and pensioners.

The NC-JCM has proposed hiking minimum basic pay to ₹69,000, increasing the annual increment to 6% from current 3%, and merging employee levels to create a unified pay structure.
The 8th Pay Commission is chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, with Pankaj Jain as Member-Secretary and Professor Pulak Ghosh as a Member.
