US influencer shot dead days after TikTok post accusing estranged husband of pedophilia
US social media influencer Sara Gilson, 43, was shot dead at her Oklahoma home, allegedly by her estranged husband Jeremiah 'Shawn' Duffey, less than two weeks after she posted a viral TikTok accusing him of being a pedophile.
Duffey later died by suicide; authorities believe the case is a murder-suicide.
Gilson had obtained an emergency protective order against Duffey in June after police informed her he had been accused of molesting a minor on a travelling basketball team he coached.
The molestation allegations involve a 15-year-old girl and occurred over an extended period across multiple states; the case was referred to the US Attorney's Office for possible federal prosecution because it occurred on tribal land and Duffey is a member of the Osage Nation.
Gilson's son was inside the home during the shooting but was taken into protective custody and later released to a parent not involved in the incident.
