3 women warkaris killed, 7 injured in palkhi truck hit

A truck accompanying the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession hit a group of women devotees on the Saswad-Jejuri road in Pune district.

Three women warkaris killed: Nanda Pawar (52), Madhavi Rajaram Salgare (55), Rajshree Shankar Bhosale (55).

Seven others injured, all from Sangli district.

Driver Eknath Dhug said he felt drowsy after medication for fever and cold and lost control while overtaking.

The truck belonged to the dindi of Ranganath Maharaj Pokharbisikar from Loha in Nanded district.
