Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced ₹5 lakh financial assistance each for families of three Warkaris killed in a road accident near Jejuri in Pune district.
Three Warkaris — Nanda Pawar (70), Madhavi Rajaram Salgare (55), and Rajshri Shankar Bhosale (55) — were killed when a truck carrying dindi luggage rammed into pilgrims on the Saswad–Jejuri road.
Four others were seriously injured and admitted to a nearby hospital; the deceased were residents of Miraj taluka, Sangli district.
Driver Balaji Eknath Dak (63) was detained; investigators suspect he became drowsy due to medication for fever, causing loss of control.
