Entry into India sans papers: Ex-US soldier with 70-country travel history sent to judicial custody
Jordan Brown, a 36-year-old ex-US soldier from California, entered India without valid travel documents and attempted to cross into Nepal via an unauthorised route in Maharajganj district.
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Sonauli police arrested Brown on July 11, 2026; he was sent to judicial custody.
Brown claimed he lost his passport in Thailand, traveled to Sri Lanka by sea, and entered India on November 2, 2025, staying in Goa before heading to Nepal.
SSB recovered ₹31,460 cash and two mobile phones from Brown, but no passport or visa; an FIR was filed under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Multiple intelligence agencies interrogated Brown and found no suspicious links so far.
