Chinese passport, religious books, AI device found on US national arrested near Nepal border

Jordan Brown, a US national from California, was arrested near the India-Nepal border in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, on July 11, 2026.

Brown was carrying a Chinese passport, an AI-powered translation device, religious books, Nepalese currency, a mobile phone, a diary, and a wristwatch.

He is believed to have entered India by sea in November 2025 without valid documents.

Multiple central agencies are verifying his identity, travel history, and the provenance of the Chinese passport.
