Rishikanta Singh, weightlifter, wins India's first silver medal at 2026 Commonwealth Games

Weightlifter Chanambam Rishikanta Singh won India's first silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in the men's 60kg category.

Rishikanta set a personal and Commonwealth Games snatch record with a lift of 121kg.

Malaysia's Bin Kasdan Mohamad Aniq won gold with a total of 273kg, while Rishikanta finished with 264kg.

Rishikanta's best career performance was at the 2025 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Ahmedabad, where he lifted 271kg total.
