Tejaswin Shankar won India's first CWG decathlon medal, bronze with 7976 points, at Glasgow 2026.
He competed with patellar tendonitis and was advised by team doctor Dr Dinshaw Pardiwalla that rupture was impossible.
He finished behind Grenada's Lindon Victor (8096) and Canada's Damian Warner (8036).
Support from long jumper Murali Sreeshankar, who had a similar injury, helped him continue after the 100m.
Shankar previously won bronze in high jump at the 2022 CWG and is India's only decathlete to cross 8000 points.
