Tejaswin Shankar's week of triumph and history

Tejaswin Shankar won a decathlon bronze at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, becoming the first Indian to medal in the decathlon at the CWG.

Shankar withdrew from the high jump competition due to a knee injury, but returned days later to compete in the decathlon.

He previously won bronze in high jump at the 2022 Birmingham CWG, making him the first Indian medallist in that event.

He credited Murali Sreeshankar for supporting him after his high jump withdrawal, which helped him avoid giving up.

Shankar competed in the decathlon alongside high jump, saying 'Yeh dil mange more' and expressing a desire to push himself further.
