'Dreams shattered': Family of Indian sailor killed in Iranian attack mourns loss
Indian sailor Rohan Kumar from Bihar's Gopalganj district was killed in an Iranian cruise missile strike on commercial vessels near Saudi Arabia on July 13, 2026.
The attack struck two Emirati oil tankers, MT Mombasa and MT Al Bahiyah, in the Strait of Hormuz, killing Rohan and injuring 10 other Indian nationals, two seriously.
Rohan's family was informed by a senior official from his company; he had returned to work on June 8, 2026, and had promised to rejoin after completing a four-month voyage.
The victim's father, Sanjay Kumar Gupta, said Rohan's dreams of supporting the family were shattered.
India condemned the seafarer's killing and strongly protested with Iran, expressing deep concern.
