India to account for each seafarer irrespective of vessel flag: Govt's big announcement after sailor killed in Hormuz

India launched a 'Seafarer-First' response to account for every Indian seafarer on any vessel, regardless of flag, in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Gulf of Oman.
The initiative follows the killing of Indian seafarer Rohan Kumar in a missile attack on MT Al Bahiyah in the Strait of Hormuz.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed the Directorate General of Shipping to create a real-time vessel-by-vessel operational dashboard for tracking Indian crew.
The dashboard will include vessel position, ownership, cargo, crew strength, welfare, threat assessment, voyage plans, and port facilities.
Two Emirati oil tankers, MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa, carrying 30 Indian seafarers, were attacked; one Indian died and another was injured on MT Al Bahiyah.
