Rishikanta Singh wins silver at Commonwealth Games 2026
Rishikanta Singh won India’s first silver medal at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in men’s 60kg weightlifting with a total lift of 264kg.
He set a new Commonwealth Games record in the snatch by clearing 121kg on his third attempt.
Born July 5, 1998 in Imphal West, Manipur, he trained at the National Sports Academy in Khuman Lampak and later joined the Services Sports Control Board.
He made his Commonwealth Games debut at Birmingham 2022 in the men’s 55kg category without winning a medal.
After weight categories were restructured, he shifted to the 60kg division and became India’s leading contender, with a breakthrough at the 2025 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Ahmedabad.
