Bengal STF arrests Jaish operative for plan to target Suvendu Adhikari

West Bengal STF arrested Mohammed Hamim Mondal, an alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed operative, and his girlfriend Arpita Sarkar on Friday.
Mondal planned to target West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and carry out sabotage at a students' protest in Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
The duo allegedly plotted to honey-trap the son of a state minister to extort money and abduct him.
The investigation began with a tip about the extortion plot and led through Sarkar's social media handle to Mondal.
Mondal allegedly contacted Pakistan-based handlers via WhatsApp and Telegram, according to IG Gaurav Sharma.
