Jaish operative arrested in Bengal planned to target Suvendu, sabotage Jantar Mantar protests: STF

West Bengal STF arrested Jaish-e-Mohammed operative Hamim Mondal from Purba Bardhaman district on Friday.
Mondal allegedly planned to target Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and carry out sabotage at the students' protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar by wearing a police uniform.
According to STF IG Gaurav Sharma, Mondal was in contact with Pakistan-based handlers through encrypted messaging platforms WhatsApp and Telegram, after initially connecting on Instagram.
Handlers, identified by aliases 'Rana', 'Uzair', 'Abid Jatt 333' and 'Hamad', are suspected to be linked to the Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti gang, involved in radicalisation and narco-terror activities.
