Arunachal Pradesh’s Glaw Lake is India’s 101st Ramsar site: Bhupender Yadav

Glaw Lake in Arunachal Pradesh has been designated as India's 101st Ramsar site, announced by Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav.

Glaw Lake is Arunachal Pradesh's first Ramsar site and lies within the Kamlang Tiger Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary.

The lake is a freshwater lake in the Eastern Himalayas, a biodiversity hotspot with over 150 tree species and 49 orchid species recorded.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the number of Ramsar sites in India has increased from 26 in 2014 to 101.

Four new wetlands including Glaw Lake were submitted to the Ramsar Secretariat for designation, as per Yadav's July statement to Lok Sabha.
