Who is Sarvesh Kushare? The 31-year-old who won India's first Commonwealth Games silver medal in men's high jump

Sarvesh Kushare won India's first Commonwealth Games silver medal in men's high jump at Glasgow 2026.
The 31-year-old cleared 2.25m, needing all three attempts, while Jamaica's Romaine Beckford took gold with the same height on first attempt.
Kushare's school teacher Raosaheb Jadhav introduced him to high jump, and a makeshift pit of corn husks and cotton was used for training.
He surpassed India's previous best, Tejaswin Shankar's bronze at Birmingham 2022, to become the country's first silver medallist in the event.
Kushare, from Devargaon in Maharashtra's Nashik district, initially pursued high jump against his father Anil Kushare's wish for him to study civil engineering.
