Full story →CWG: Sarvesh Kushare becomes 1st Indian to win silver in men's high jump
Sarvesh Kushare became the first Indian to win silver in men's high jump at the Commonwealth Games, clearing 2.25m.
Jamaica's Romaine Beckford won gold on countback after both failed at 2.28m; England's Jack Kimani took bronze with 2.20m.
Kushare, a 31-year-old national record holder, previously became the first Indian high jumper to podium at a Diamond League meet in Monaco.
He set a new national record of 2.31m while winning gold at the National Inter-State Championships in Bhubaneswar last month.
The other Indian, Adarsh Ram, finished fifth with 2.15m; Tejaswin Shankar retired after failing 2.05m as a precaution ahead of the decathlon.

Murali Sreeshankar qualified for men's long jump final with 8.01m leap, clearing the automatic mark of 8.00m.

Tejas Shirse finished third in his 110m hurdles heat with 13.76s to qualify for the final.
Gurindervir Singh failed to qualify for men's 100m final after timing 10.39s in heats.
Sreeshankar aims to upgrade his 2022 silver medal, recovering from a 2024 patellar tendon injury.
