Pakistan deploys Chinese SH-15 artillery guns near India border: Report
Pakistan has deployed Chinese-made SH-15 wheeled self-propelled artillery guns along sectors facing India, strengthening long-range firepower near the border.
The SH-15 is a 155mm, 52-calibre artillery system manufactured by Norinco, known as PCL-181 in China; Pakistan ordered 236 guns in 2019 with deliveries starting in 2022.
Most SH-15 guns are deployed with Pakistani formations in Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Jalalpur Jattan, behind the Shakargarh bulge.
Pakistan has secured a Transfer of Technology agreement to manufacture the SH-15 locally at Heavy Industries Taxila.
The SH-15 offers greater range and accuracy, can fire rocket-assisted projectiles up to 50 kilometers, and is part of Pakistan's artillery modernization program.
