Pakistan has deployed 250 China-made SH-15 truck-mounted self-propelled howitzers along its eastern border with India, positioning them across major sectors from north to south.
The SH-15, manufactured by China's state-owned NORINCO, is a 155 mm gun-howitzer mounted on a 6x6 chassis, powered by a 400-horsepower diesel engine.
The artillery can fire NATO-compatible ammunition with a standard range of 30 to 40 km, and a maximum range of 50 km with HE-ERFB-BB-RA projectiles.
The deployment is the most significant military enhancement by Pakistan since India's Operation Sindoor in May 2025, which followed the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
This move reflects deepening China-Pakistan defence ties, as noted by Pakistani Army chief Asim Munir.
