'No mention of Sita with curly hair in Ramayan,' Deepika on Sai Pallavi's casting
Dipika Chikhalia commented on Sai Pallavi's casting as Sita in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana film, saying Sita's curly hair is not mentioned in Tulsidas' Ramayan.
Chikhalia said Sita is described in Tulsidas' Ramayan as having almond eyes, a certain height, hair and skin, and that Ramanand Sagar saw those qualities in her.
She acknowledged Sai Pallavi as a talented actor but said it is unfair to judge her casting before seeing her performance.
Chikhalia also noted Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in the original series, will appear as King Dashrath in the new film.
She reflected that the original Ramayan series remains deeply embedded in public consciousness, especially after re-airing during the COVID-19 lockdown.
