US fugitive featured on 'America's Most Wanted' arrested after 20 years on the run
Ronald L. Fischer, 70, was arrested by US Marshals aboard a 56-foot sailboat off the coast of New York after 20 years as a fugitive.
Fischer disappeared from Rhode Island in 2005 during his trial for first-degree sexual assault of a woman aboard his yacht, and was convicted in absentia.
He used more than a dozen aliases, including 'Richard Graydon' under which his sailboat 'The Silver Lining' was registered.
His case was featured on the TV program 'America's Most Wanted' multiple times during his time on the run.
The arrest was a multi-agency operation involving the FBI, US Marshals, and US Coast Guard, following fresh intelligence over 48 hours.
