Gangster Nitish Kaushal arrested in US days after making it to FBI's most wanted list
Nitish Kaushal, associate of the Bhagwanpuria Organized Crime Group, was arrested in Vermont by US law enforcement.
Kaushal was added to the FBI's most wanted list and charged with Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Conspiracy (RICO).
He faces a mandatory minimum prison sentence between 10 years and life imprisonment for alleged involvement in murder, kidnapping, drug trafficking, extortion, weapons trafficking, money laundering, and human smuggling.
The arrest follows Operation Hard Ball, which previously arrested 15 members of organized crime groups with links to India, including the Bishnoi, Bhagwanpuria, and Dhanda groups.
Kaushal was one of 11 fugitives or individuals not in US custody out of 34 charged in connection with these organized crime groups.
