Kalyan Banerjee suspended from Lok Sabha for 'unparliamentary language' against woman MP
Kalyan Banerjee, a Trinamool Congress MP, was suspended from Lok Sabha for the remainder of the Monsoon Session for using unparliamentary language against a woman MP.
Presiding officer Krishna Prasad Tenneti announced the suspension, stating Banerjee's remarks hurt the dignity of the House.
The suspension resolution was adopted by voice vote amid sloganeering by Opposition members over the NEET paper leak and other issues.
Earlier, Banerjee had a heated exchange with former Trinamool Congress colleagues now in the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), including Mitali Bagh, Shatabdi Roy, and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
The Monsoon Session ends on August 13.
