Ludhiana: PSPCL relying on inexperienced staff to run grids amid strike, allege unions

PSPCL is assigning substation duties to employees unfamiliar with grid operations after only brief instructions, according to PSEB Employees Federation (AITUC) state secretary Gurpreet Singh Mahidudan.
The employee agitation has entered its sixth day, with regular employees on mass leave and outsourced workers on indefinite strike since July 22.
Complaint handling bike (CHB) teams have also joined the strike, leaving senior officers to manage critical installations and emergency operations.
Mahidudan alleged that standard operating procedures for power faults are compromised: feeders are being restored without complete patrolling to locate the fault, posing safety risks.
