Supreme Court seeks Ram mandir fund probe status report in a week
Supreme Court directed the UP government's Special Investigation Team to submit a status report on Ayodhya Ram Mandir donation embezzlement probe within a week.
The Court entertained four public interest litigations seeking independent and time-bound investigations, including an audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
The SIT has arrested eight individuals; investigations found around 70 suspicious incidents of staff concealing cash during counting.
Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra resigned over the controversy.
Further hearings are scheduled for July 20.
