Pune’s Moshi Disaster: Victims Died Due To Severe Injuries & Internal Bleeding, Not Suffocation, Says

Most victims of the Moshi garbage depot tragedy died from severe injuries and internal bleeding, not suffocation, according to preliminary post-mortem findings at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri.
Bodies showed multiple fractures and extensive injuries from heavy debris, with crushing damage to vital organs leading to fatal blood loss.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation announced ex gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh each to families of the nine deceased workers.
PCMC Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi ordered a case to be registered, but no FIR had been filed by late Sunday.
The collapse occurred on July 8 when a rain-soaked waste heap fell onto the administrative building of the PCMC Waste-to-Energy plant, trapping 23 workers; 14 were rescued alive.
