Bengaluru restaurants threaten Swiggy boycott from Aug 15 over commissions

Four Bengaluru restaurant associations, including Bruhat Bengaluru Hotels Association, threaten to stop accepting Swiggy orders from August 15, 2026 unless commission and discount terms are revised.

The associations seek renegotiation of commission structures (which can reach about 28%), promotional discounts, and ad costs that are introduced without restaurant consent.

Restaurant owners say they bear the entire cost of discounts and ads, and that high commissions force them to mark up menu prices by almost 40%.

Talks with Swiggy are scheduled for next week, while discussions with Zomato are expected later; a final boycott decision depends on those meetings.

Swiggy and Zomato had not issued public statements or responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.
