25 US states move court against Trump's tariffs on 60 countries, including India

Democratic-led US states filed a lawsuit before the US Court of International Trade on Monday against President Donald Trump's Section 301 tariffs on 60 countries, including India.

The tariffs range from 10% to 12.5%, imposed citing forced labor issues; India faces 10% after amending its foreign trade policy on June 14 to ban imports made with forced labor.

New York Attorney General Letitia James and Governor Kathy Hochul lead the coalition, asking the court to declare the tariffs illegal.

The lawsuit argues the tariffs are arbitrary and a pretext for sweeping tariffs, raising costs for consumers and businesses, and violate Section 301 requirements.
