UP to run extra buses for Kanwar Yatra, sets up 24x7 control rooms

Uttar Pradesh government directs state transport corporation to deploy extra buses on key pilgrimage routes for the annual Kanwar Yatra starting July 30.

UPSRTC will operate extra buses on routes towards Haridwar, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Prayagraj depending on demand.

x7 control rooms will be established at every regional headquarters to monitor bus operations, coordinate with local authorities, and address disruptions.

Transport minister Dayashankar Singh reviewed preparations and directed prioritization of passenger safety; UPSRTC buses to use only alternative routes where traffic diversions are imposed.

Basic passenger amenities including drinking water, clean toilets, seating, enquiry counters, public address systems, and food stalls will be ensured at bus stations along the Kanwar route.
