Traffic, security tightened as Prayagraj gears up for Kanwar Yatra

Prayagraj district administration ordered closure of meat shops along Kanwar routes during Sawan month.

Additional District Magistrate Satyam Mishra directed departments to ensure civic, security and traffic arrangements.

Sawan month runs from July 30 to August 28, 2026; lakhs of Kanwariyas expected to collect Ganga water from Sangam.

At Shri Mankameshwar Mahadev Temple, deity will be displayed in Mahakal form with bhang, bhasma and gulal adornment.

Police were instructed to prepare a comprehensive security plan for the yatra.
