Chess legend Anand makes U-turn, rejoins FIDE election race

Viswanathan Anand reversed his decision to step back and will contest the FIDE elections as Deputy President alongside presidential candidate Timur Turlov.

The change follows Arkady Dvorkovich's exit from the race due to European Union sanctions, prompting Turlov to switch from Deputy President to presidential candidate.

Anand currently serves as FIDE's Interim President and said he wants to continue expanding chess, backing Turlov's vision for the organisation.
