Sam Neill dies after cancer battle

Sam Neill's ex Laura Tingle said he was 'pretty sick' for his final weeks after battling cancer for years.

Tingle appeared on ABC's Sydney Mornings and said intense chemo and immunotherapy left Neill exhausted and compromised.

Neill had been treated for blood cancer, which had cleared but left his immune system weak.

Tingle said Neill was not afraid of dying but was 'annoyed' because he still wanted to work, being 'addicted to working'.

Neill died on July 13, 2026, at age 78, with his family confirming the news.
