in5points
Police detained around 300 protesters in Panna, MP, ending a 14-day agitation led by activist Amit Bhatnagar against alleged corruption in the Ken-Betwa Link Project, Majhgawan Dam, Rujh and Naiguwan irrigation projects, and NTPC-related initiatives.
Bhatnagar claimed compensation worth over ₹400 crore was awarded to ineligible individuals through fraudulent gram sabha proceedings, affecting nearly 50,000 people.
The protest included symbolic pyre and hanging demonstrations on the Banala river, a tributary of the Ken.
Panna district collector Parth Jaiswal said the removal was a safety measure due to rising water levels; no case was registered, and Bhatnagar was taken for medical examination.
