Will end fast if Centre assures no action against protesters: Wangchuk
Sonam Wangchuk will end his 25-day hunger strike if the Centre assures no legal action against Cockroach Janta Party protesters who marched to Parliament.
Wangchuk demanded a discussion in Parliament on accountability, including the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and compensation for injured protesters and families of students who committed suicide after the NEET-UG paper leak.
Wangchuk wrote to Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh after they visited him at Medanta hospital, requesting the assurance in an open letter shared on X.
Wangchuk had been fasting at Jantar Mantar since June 28 and was hospitalized after a Delhi High Court order, continuing his fast through hospitalisation.
The Chalo Sansad march on July 20, 2026, remained peaceful despite alleged police action, according to Wangchuk.
