India strongly condemned Pakistan for raising the issues of Jammu & Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty at the ASEAN Regional Forum. The Indian government termed Pakistan's remarks as baseless and unwarranted, accusing it of exploiting multilateral forums to spread disinformation.
Background
The Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) between India and Pakistan, signed in 1960, governs water sharing of the Indus river system. India has previously stated that the treaty stands in abeyance due to Pakistan's continued sponsorship of cross-border terrorism, including the Pahalgam attack.

The treaty will remain in abeyance until Pakistan credibly abjures support for cross-border terrorism.
India condemned Pakistan's use of religious terminology like 'Fitna al-Hindustan' to propagate disinformation.
India urged Pakistan to dismantle terrorist infrastructure on its soil and focus on its internal crises.
