Aaron Farinacci update: Spokane Old Trails Fire arson suspect killed own father in Mesa – 5 things to know

Aaron Farinacci, 37, was arrested and booked on suspicion of arson for the Old Trails Fire in Spokane, Washington.

Farinacci is a convicted felon in Arizona for manslaughter and premeditated murder, having killed his own father in Mesa.

Authorities developed probable cause after witnesses saw a nervous man near the fire's origin and later identified Farinacci, who had waterproof matches and a butane lighter.

The Old Trails Fire started August 1 near Airway Heights, burned over 10,000 acres, destroyed hundreds of structures, and forced thousands to evacuate.

Sheriff John Nowels stated there is no indication Farinacci was responsible for the other fires in the Spokane area.
