Who is Aaron Farinacci? Suspect arrested in connection with Spokane Old Trails Fire

Aaron F. Farinacci, a 37-year-old convicted felon, was arrested on an arson charge for the Old Trails Fire in Spokane, Washington.

Farinacci was identified by a witness who saw him acting nervous before smoke rose; he had waterproof matches and a butane lighter.

He was previously convicted of manslaughter in Arizona and is held on a $1 million bond.

The Old Trails Fire started August 1 near Airway Heights, burned through Riverside State Park and neighborhoods in north Spokane, destroying hundreds of structures and forcing thousands to evacuate.

Sheriff John Nowels stated Farinacci is not suspected in the other Spokane-area fires; the Old Trails Fire is a top national priority.
