Red warning for heavy rain in Himachal districts Monday-Tuesday

IMD issued a Red Warning for Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur districts on Monday, July 20, and for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Sirmaur on Tuesday, July 21.

Flash floods blocked the Sangla-Chitkul road near the ITBP camp at Mastarang in Kinnaur district; no loss of life reported.

The Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway was shut due to landslides near Batti Hatti and Durgethi; a landslide also blocked the Chamba-Shimla highway.

Dharamshala recorded 84.3 mm of rain, Kangra 61.1 mm, and other areas received between 20 and 33 mm since Saturday evening.

Chief Secretary Kamlesh Kumar Pant directed district emergency operation centres to activate 24x7 and keep QRTs, SDRF, NDRF, and other services ready.
