'Cops everywhere': Wife Gitanjali shares photo from hospital, claims Wangchuk under constant vigil

Gitanjali J Angmo, Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, claimed police are everywhere at Medanta hospital—at the main gate, reception, lifts, and outside the ICU—controlling who may meet him.

Gitanjali questioned whether the police presence defies a court order that Wangchuk is not under detention.

Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike after receiving written assurances from the government and MPs across party lines that his demands for exam reforms and no action against peaceful protesters would be met.

Wangchuk said he extended his fast by two days as negotiations with the Centre were under way and he finally got a written assurance.

Abhijeet Dipke of the Cockroach Janta Party posted gratitude that Wangchuk ended his hunger strike, praising his courage and sacrifice.
