Family sent $140 in bitcoin to kidnapper after ransom notes
Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer says Nancy Guthrie's family sent 0.0022 BTC (about $140) to the alleged kidnapper on February 2, 2026, the day the first ransom note was received.
The ransom notes demanded $4 million in bitcoin and were received between February 2 and 3.
The family, including Savannah, Annie, and Camron Guthrie, agreed to pay the ransom, sending a message saying 'We are ready to pay' but received no response.
A later note from the suspect claimed Nancy Guthrie died during the abduction and is 'buried in nature.'
The FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department are seeking public help to identify the handwriting on the notes.
