KGMU Lucknow bans preparation of non-veg items at hostels after UP Governor's directions, ordering-in permitted

King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow has banned the preparation of non-vegetarian food items at all its hostels.

The ban follows directions from Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, who questioned serving non-veg items twice a week in hostel messes.

Ordering non-vegetarian food from outside remains permitted at KGMU hostels.

KGMU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Soniya Nityanand set up a task force to address the issues raised by the Governor.

Non-vegetarian food is neither cooked nor served in the 18 messes run by KGMU administration, but private messes run by students may be affected.
